Products and Assets do different jobs#
| Area | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Products | the goods, services, rentals, or memberships you sell |
| Assets | stock, movements, units, equipment, and locations |
Products only works in enabled business lines#
The current catalog manager supports:
- Goods
- Services
- Rentals
- Membership
There is no separate global catalog manager. If no catalog lines are enabled, the page tells you that directly.
Assets follows enabled capabilities#
| Workspace capability | Main tabs |
|---|---|
| Inventory | Stock, Movements, Locations |
| Service assets | Assets, Locations |
| Rental assets | Assets, Locations |
| Membership resources | Assets, Locations |
| Combined capabilities | one shared page with the relevant tabs |
Good setup pattern#
- Create the offer in Products.
- Open Assets and choose the tab that matches the record.
- Add the stock, unit, tool, or location records that make the offer usable.
- Open the item detail when you need record-level changes.
Common blockers#
- The catalog page looks wrong: check enabled capabilities and the current filters first.
- Stock tabs are missing: you are not in Goods.
- The catalog is correct but the team still cannot fulfill the work: the issue is usually in Assets, not Products.
