Work in Templates mode#
The Documents section has three top-level modes:
- Templates
- Requests
- Library
Use Templates when you are building the reusable starting point.
Pick the right template source#
| Source | Best for |
|---|---|
| Builder | writing, editing, and restructuring the document in Zelio |
| PDF Upload | starting from an existing PDF and mainly placing fields or signature targets |
Build in this order#
- Click New.
- Choose the template kind and whether it should start in Builder or PDF Upload.
- In Builder, move through Blocks, Fields, and Review.
- Refresh the proof until the output matches what you want to publish.
- Save the draft.
- Publish when blocking validation is clear.
Publication checks the template profile as well as the canvas. Sales invoices, estimates, receipts, purchase documents, rentals, and statements use Builder sources. Contract, consent, and other flexible document profiles can use a PDF source. A signable profile needs at least one signature or initials field, each signer field needs a supported role, and every field must fit on a real page of the committed source PDF.
Use the navigator, defaults, and brand tools#
The template navigator now lets you manage:
- the template library
- Workspace defaults for template assignment
- template info and validation state
- workspace brand kits
If one template should automatically drive receipts, agreements, or other repeatable work, set that assignment in Workspace defaults.
Useful actions in the current editor#
- Save draft
- Publish
- Undo / Redo
- Duplicate
- Revert changes
- Focus for Builder work
- Refresh proof and Open proof
Common blockers#
- You cannot change the body: it is a PDF Upload template.
- Publish is disabled: there is at least one blocking validation issue.
- The wrong template appears in downstream workflows: check Workspace defaults first.
